There was plenty at stake this afternoon in the Hyundai Premier 1.35m Derby, with a cool $10,000 on offer to the winner. Amanda Wilson and her long-time partner, Showtym Cassanova were last to go in the second round and no stranger to pressure, they entered the ring looking cool, calm and collected. Being the only combination to jump clear in the opening round and with zero faults to carry forward, they could afford to have a rail down and still win.
Flying around the course they had the crowd on edge as they knocked down the second to last fence, but secured the victory seconds later as they cleared the last to finish on a two-round total of four faults. Amanda Pottinger and Pampero jumped clear in round two, but carrying five faults from the first round, had to settle for second. Fellow eventing rider, Samantha Felton and Ricker Ridge Rui slotted into third place with a total of nine faults. With a $6,000 and $3,000 prize for second and third respectively, it was a super day at the office for both!
